Matcha – the king of the teas naturally leads us to Uji Japan, the origin of matcha.

Why Matcha?

Matcha is made from the youngest, most tender leaves of the tea plant, which are carefully hand-picked and shade-grown to amplify their natural sweetness and umami flavour. The powdered tea leaves give you a unique tea experience with a rich flavour.

Matcha is great for health, it’s rich in L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation, focus, and mental clarity.

Matcha also contains an abundance of catechins, a group of antioxidants that help protect the body against free radicals and oxidative stress.

Why Uji Matcha?

Grown in the sacred Uji region of Kyoto, Japan, this matcha is prized for its exceptional quality and unique characteristics.

Uji is one of the first regions that grew tea when it was first introduced from China and the first recorded place to create and drink the ground up form of tea leaves we know as matcha. Here are just a few reasons why Uji matcha stands out from the rest:

Traditional production methods: Uji matcha is still produced using traditional methods, which involve grinding the leaves into a fine powder using stone mills and stone bowls.

Awards and recognition: Uji matcha has consistently won awards at international tea competitions, earning its reputation as one of the finest matcha varieties available.

Tradition and heritage: The Uji region has a long history of producing high-quality matcha dating back to the 12th century. This rich cultural heritage is reflected in the meticulous attention to detail and dedication to craftsmanship found throughout the production process.
